Fresh and funky, Mahdu possesses a fine blend of youth and enthusiasm that will hold you spellbound while they apply their extensive Jazz expertise to many old (and new) favourites.

Mahdu is a jazz/soul quartet based in Christchurch and features CPIT jazz school graduate Shinae Park on piano and vocals. Shinae provides a fiery live performance and unexplainable energy which can only come from a true love of music. With a soulful voice and amazing rhythmic sense Shinae has been likened to jazz divas like Diana Krall. Mahdu's other band members really hit that groove in jazz and soul/funk which can provide great entertainment or lazy sunday afternoon listening.

Guitarist Nick Burson's keen love of music provides him with a unique approach to jazz music and an entertaining live show. Nick grew up in Nelson and is excited about bringing his jazz skills back home. (Mr Time) drummer Tim Sellers has played it all from jazz to metal. In more recent years Tim has become the most sort after drummer at CPIT jazz school for his amazing work ethic and his very tidy playing. Sam Waite is a natural born musician, who has developed into a very sought after double bass player. Sam provides a very musical approach to soloing and playing in general.

All members of Mahdu possess musical degrees or are studying at CPIT jazz school. Though young and exciting, Mahdu's members bring their own unique musical flavour from their vast experience and musical education.
